2018 Honda Civic Remains a Favorite of Kelley Blue Book for Its Affordability and Cool Factor

Calling the coupe, sedan, and hatchback trio a "benchmark for the class," the vehicle and value research authority praised the compact car for its "combination of youthful style, impressive feature content, and sporty driving dynamics." KBB didn't mince words, either: its accolades were plenty.

According to a late-May press release from Honda, a team of expert reviewers from the Internet arm of Kelley Blue Book, KBB.com, called 2018 Civic, in short, comfortable, spacious, practical, reliable, highly efficient, and a blast to drive while giving it due credit for coming loaded with the latest tech and at a budget-friendly bottom line. Of course, we at Sullivan Honda can certainly see where they're coming from.

Step into the driver's seat and all the reasons for such celebration rise to the trip's occasion. For one, available leather-trimmed accommodations, heated up front, join rear heated seating in select body styles and trims, putting everyone at ease for the duration. Before you in base trims, a command center sprawls, with a 5-inch color LCD to put control at your fingertips becoming a 7-inch Display Audio touchscreen at higher ones. What's more, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard in select trims, you can extend your smartphone to the dash and control it right from the screen. How better to enjoy your favorite road mixes, too, than via a powerful 180-watt, eight-speaker sound system? The setup even becomes an available 450-watt, 10-speaker premium audio system or, in the latest Civic Sport Touring hatch, a 540-watt, 12-speaker variant to transform your soundtrack into a symphony-quality anthem.

Tap optional push-button start, however, and the ride comes to life. Civic coupe and sedan models offer an energized 158-horsepower, inline-four DOHC i-VTEC® engine, and for extra pizazz, an optional turbocharged 174-horsepower model. Opt for the Civic hatchback, and you get a turbocharged horsepower bump, as high as 180. Handling's a joy, too, with a six-speed manual gearbox for the hands-on type and a CVT for those preferring an easy-to-use smooth operator.

Perhaps best of all, the new Civic is exceedingly safe, owing to a suite of driver-assistance tech at the top of the line called Honda Sensing®. Standard in coupe, available in sedan, and optional across the trim lineups save for the Sport hatchback, it can help keep you apprised of your surroundings, provide warnings about lane departure or impending accidents, help you stay the course, and even simplify putting a safe distance between you and other motorists. Factor in the available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System, incorporating voice recognition and Honda HD Digital Traffic, and it's easy to find your way all the while.
