The 2019 Honda CR-V is known for being one of the most reliable and fuel efficient compact crossover models on the road today. But it’s time to start recognizing it for another quality, safety. In a recent press release, Honda announced that both the 2018 and 2019 CR-V earned “Superior” ratings for its Collision Mitigation Braking System™ for Pedestrian Detection and Crash Prevention from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Its Honda Sensing® technologies package had previously earned the same rating for Crash Avoidance and Mitigation.

The Collision Mitigation Braking System™ uses both wave radar and a rearview mirror camera to dynamically detect what’s going on in front of your vehicle. If it detects an impending accident, it will warn the driver with both visual and audio alerts. The system can also apply the brakes to avoid or minimize the impact of a crash, protecting the driver.

The Honda Sensing® suite of intelligent driver assist technologies includes not only the Collision Mitigation Braking System™ but also Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, and Traffic Sign Recognition.

For the Honda CR-V to be recognized on both fronts is undoubtedly an impressive achievement and one that should reinforce the idea that Honda is committed to delivering the safest vehicles for their customers.
