The 2019 Honda Passport World Debut at the 2018 LA Auto Show: Four Major Takeaways

On November 27, 2018, Honda enthusiasts and adventurers off the beaten path alike got big news. Something new would be joining the Honda crossover family, set to slate between Honda CR-V and its older sibling, Honda Pilot. That five-passenger compact SUV, it turned out, would have designs on the mid-size segment, and in Sport, EX-L, Touring, and Elite trims, it finally materialized as the long-awaited Honda Passport. So, what do we have to look forward to? Sullivan Honda has the scoop!

Exceptional Off-Road Performance and Towing Capability

If anything, 2019 Passport will be a stalwart traveler. Its reinforced unibody frame will house a fully independent suspension as well as a powerful 280-horsepower i-VTEC® V6, which will come paired with a cutting-edge nine-speed auto transmission. Plus, an available i-VTM4&#trade; all-wheel-drive system will join forces with torque vectoring for cornering precision as well as a multi-mode Intelligent Traction Management system geared for snow, sand, and mud, keeping the crossover a hard charger across diverse terrain and through foul weather. The result: the ability to haul up to 3,500 pounds in FWD and up to 5,000 pounds in AWD -- plenty of capacity for anything from a pair of dirt bikes or ATVs to a small camper or even a second car.

Loads of Interior Space

With 115.9 cubic feet for passengers and up to 77.9 cubic feet for luggage and essentials with rear seating collapsed, the new Passport will be all about accommodations. You'll even be able to find 2.5 cubic feet of underfloor cargo storage in a segmented compartment, not to mention leading-edge technologies filling the rest of the cabin.

Safety to a Tee

Honda Sensing® driver-assist technology will come standard throughout the Passport lineup -- wraparound protection when you need it and ultimate peace of mind for nearly any excursion.

A Highly Customizable Design

A wide range of Honda accessories will be available, making it easy to deck out your new Passport to reflect both your needs and your personal style. Check out the new Adventure and Urban packages when they roll out!

What else can we expect behind the wheel of the new 2019 Honda Passport. Only time will tell, and the compact crossover is set to appear sometime early this year. Until then, stay tuned for updates from our 45 Migeon Ave showroom in Torrington!
