March 21, 2023 | Torrington, CT
Honda engineers have done it again, rolling out five models in 2023 that earned IIHS Top Safety Pick honors with the CR-V, HR-V and Odyssey ascending to TSP+ status. The 2023 Civic Sedan and Civic Hatchback earned top spots on the TSP list with Accord and Pilot awaiting evaluation by IIHS judges for their anticipated placement.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) judges new automobiles on front and side crash test results, along with headlight ratings and vehicle-to-pedestrain front crash prevention systems in both day and nighttime driving conditions. The 2023 Honda HR-V, CR-V and Odyssey acheived exceptional ratings in crash tests, headlight effectiveness, and overall satisfaction with the Honda Sensing suite of safety features and driver-assistive technologies that come standard on all new models. This impressive safety suite includes Collision Mitigation Braking Systemâ„¢ (CMBSâ„¢) with Pedestrian Detection; Forward Collision Warning; Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) incorporating Lane Departure Warning (LDW); Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS); and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).
The 2023 Civic Sedan and Civic Hatchback benefit from Honda's proprietary Advanced Compatibility Engineeringâ„¢ (ACEâ„¢) body structure, designed to protect occupants in a wide variety of frontal collisions, along with advanced supplemental restraint systems, such as pretensioning front seatbelts, and front, side, knee and side-curtain airbags.
Sullivan Honda anticipates that there will be more models added to the list of exceptionally safe vehicles with the results pending for the all-new Accord and Pilot models that feature the same outstanding Honda Sensing features and body structure.
